I took that as a confirmation and the 'unsupported' upgrade I put in worked fine. I happened to find an ebay listing showing just one person that had done it before. I upgraded an old Gateway sx2803 to a faster lga775 processor even though there was very little guidance and data showing that it had been done before. Otherwise, they can still work as long as you have all the theoretical stuff right. If a module matches Dell specs or if you can find some other sources online that have used other modules with success, you're in luck. I guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and buy whatever Dell states (along with the associated price tag.)Luckily 2gb and 4gb modules are fairly cheap. The 2GB/4GB sticks, how many of each do you have?I would be extra careful and check what ranking these modules have as it seems the t310 is extra finicky about ranking too. Sadly the 2x16 won't work, the system only supports up to 8gb sticks. System is currently running a 4GB module, and have 6 total slots.īecause of the cooling shroud over the RAM slots, only standard-looking RAM (no fancy heat spreaders) will fit. Or, if you have stuff you know works, let me know that too. Apparently this thing will take both ECC and non-ECC RAM (and the web abounds with stories of their T310 being picky about that as well) so in the interest of simplicity, tell me what you have (I think up to 4GB sticks) with model number and specs, and I'll figure out if it'll work in my T310.
